the highlight of my day

As I mentioned before, I cleaned out the storage shed today.

Perhaps you don't understand what that actually entailed. You see, I'm terrible at packing...and even worse at unpacking. So...the majority of the boxes I have sorted through over the course of the past two days have been packed for a long time. Some of them have been packed since I moved into my first apartment in college (*gasp*). I know it's terrible! :)

It is fun, however, to find some things I had forgotten I even owned. And Yes, I do realize if I've lived without it for close to 10 years, I can probably go ahead and get rid of it! :) I did do up a large bag for Goodwill and also created an obscene mound of trash for our road-side.

My point here is...my find of the day...I found "Taffy!"

Taffy is my teddy bear! I collected bears as a child and Taffy was the "crown jewel" of my collection. I have had him since the day I was born and slept with him every single night through my entire childhood and then some.

I think he's looking pretty good for his old age!

I was thrilled to find him today and I'm excited to get him washed up so I can share him with Camden!

Let's "nest"...shall we?

"Nesting" is this really great phenomenon that happens to pregnant women!

It is super helpful when it comes time to get things done. I've heard of some women who never got their "nesting urge"...I am NOT one of those women!

I have been cleaning out things like crazy. For a few weeks I've had a day here and a day there where I would just go crazy on whatever project I had picked out that day. However, these past two days, I have been OUT OF CONTROL with my nesting urges.

I have cleaned out and organized the storage shed in the back yard. That was  a HUGE task and took the better halves of two days (it was too hot to spend more than 3 or 4 hours out there). I have also STARTED my work in the nursery. I'm so excited about getting this room all done.
David and I went out on Friday and bought all the supplies we still needed to get the room completed. We got 3 colors of paint, curtain rods, curtain tie backs, and some other supplies needed for the big project. We are painting the wall the lightest color of blue (which it kinda "grey/blue") from the bedding we picked out.
Here's a picture of the bedding...

Here's a close up of some "swatches" of the bedding. You can really see the colors much better...

So far, I'm loving the color! I painted the biggest wall in the room tonight. I went ahead and did two coats...this picture was taken before I finished the first coat, but you can see the contrast between the blue and the white (the previous color).

I'm thrilled with how it's turning out! I can't wait for David to get home from work and see it. :)

Happy Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to my amazingly wonderful husband! **and to baby Dylin** :)

We've had a great morning so far.
David requested "German Pancake" for breakfast which is my FAVORITE breakfast food on the planet...:) So I was more than happy to make it. I've actually never made one before. That's a pretty impressive feat seeing as how many of them I've eaten :)

It kind of a breakfast soufflé that includes dried fruit bits and is served with powdered sugar and lemon juice on top. It is positively delicious. Very unique.

I have to say, for my first attempt...It was a total success!

We are looking forward to having dinner with Sharon and Bill tonight.

As a side note, one of my very closest friends, Lindsey, is having her baby boy today :) We are so excited for them and wish we could be in Tennessee to meet him. David thinks it's pretty cool that baby Dylin is going to arrive on his birthday :)

***Update***Happy Birthday to baby Dylin! He was born around 2:45 today at 8 pounds and 8 ounces. Congratulations Lindsey and Bill we are SO happy for you!!! :)***

home again

I'm home from my 32 week Doctor's appointment...

Here's the update...

I'm wearing two, super annoying, wrist braces. The doctor informed me I have developed pregnancy induced carpal tunnel. I had, thanks to my sister, already figured this out...I had not, however, realized I needed to do anything about it. He told me in order to make sure the inflammation and irritation causing the condition (which is not ALL THAT uncommon) goes away after pregnancy, I need to be wearing a stabilizing wrist brace 24/7. I am probably not gonna wear them 24/7...I'll just be honest here. But...I'll do my best...At least when I'm at home.

He says baby Camden is "head down" which is good news. That doesn't mean he can't, technically, still flip over. However, judging by how cramped he feels in there...It would take an awful lot to flip him at this point. We have an ultrasound scheduled for July 14th at 2:00 pm. This is when we will look at his size. We will probably determine if and when I'll be induced on this day! If you're not familiar with why we are doing this, you can click here and read the blog I wrote after our 24 week appointment.

I'm feeling really tired this evening. It's a gloomy rainy day and I just haven't been sleeping well at night.

Tomorrow is David's birthday :)

That's all for now. Thanks for reading!

kinda cool

I noticed this butterfly today on our front gate. :) Funny, I never even noticed there was a cocoon there. Just wanted to share...I thought it was pretty cool.

Warren pictures

David and Warren cuddling on the couch.

Warren was so cute feeling baby Camden move and talking to him. He didn't quite know what to think about it all. So he gave me my cell phone and promptly said "CHEESE"

David's "Father's" Day

David and Ozzy on Father's day. Ozzy got spoiled with a little "bed time." This is something we really don't allow anymore so they both enjoyed it!

it's personal

Camden's awesome aunt Ashley got him some pretty cool personalized things!

Mommy and Daddy love them too! I just wanted to share the cuteness!

Such a sweet onesie...Ben and Warren have one too! How cute will they be all dressed alike? :)

This is Camden's first luggage tag. I just love to see things with his name on it!

I'm in love with my "hand-me-down" ju-ju-be diaper bag...and NOW, I have a matching personalized tag for it! I can't believe how perfectly it matches!

Thanks so much Ash!!! :)

Happy Birthday :)

David and I went to visit Ashley and Warren yesterday to celebrate Warren and David's birthdays that are both coming up this week.
We baby sat Warren while Ashley went to a baby shower and then the four of us went to Chuck E. Cheese’s for dinner and games.
We really did have some fun!

Warren riding the horse in a racing game.
I was really impressed, he didn't get scared at all...and it bounced him around a lot! :)

Of course, we had more fun than he did winning all the tickets to get him some loot. He got lots of fun stuff...his favorite, was this little green (60 ticket) dinosaur.
We were showing Mom how he goes "Raaaaaar" when she snapped this picture.

dryer drama over...

I would just like to say, we FINALLY have a working dryer!

So far, the breaker hasn't flipped...but, let me just tell you now...if it starts flipping again...I won't do a darn thing about it! I will just keep trucking myself in and out of the house to keep the dryer running.

An annoying dryer is better than a cold one! :)

David and I are looking forward to having dinner with Joyce and David tonight. I didn't know they were in town until yesterday, and David was able to get his second shift off tonight so he can join us for dinner. A pleasant surprise :)

dryer drama

I'm beginning to think the "dryer drama" will never end!

A month or so ago we started having an issue with our dryer (it was actually our landlord's dryer...and by "an issue," what I really mean is...it just stopped working). So, we switched out the dryer and put our dryer in. Guess what, it didn't work either. Then we (and by "we" I mean David) got smart and started checking out the breakers. Yeah, the breaker was flipped in the back of the house...easy fix...flip it back, dryer works again.

Oh how I wish it was that easy. Our dryer is located "outside." It's in a closet-like room on the front porch. I don't know if it's from the heat or what, but the dryer has started throwing the breaker 5 to 6 times per load! Ugh. That's super annoying when you have to go out front and check...see that it's off...and then walk out back to flip the breaker...walk back out front to re-start the dryer...and then you get to repeat it all in about 10 minutes.

Sooo...I finally emailed the Landlord and she said she'd send out an electrician. He was supposed to be here yesterday but didn't make it. He was supposed to be here today by 6:00 and he showed up around 6:30. He looked at the plug and checked some stuff out, then he went ahead and switched out the breaker for us.

Things were looking great. I started another load of washing and put the load that had just finished in the washer as he was leaving, just to make sure it was working as well as it seemed. The dryer didn't cut off! It just kept going and going...and going...after almost 2 hours of drying I decided I should probably see what was taking so long...I cleaned out the lint trap and noticed the lint was "cold." I checked the clothes...they were cold too. :( Ugh...here we go again. The dryer is running now, but not heating!

I called the landlord. She called her electrician. He can't be here until 5:00 tomorrow. SO, she's calling another one to be here first thing in the morning. I'm just really frustrated..this has been my day! I really thought we had finally fixed the problem...little did I know, we only created a new one!

how do we look?

I've worked and I've worked and I've worked on the new header.

It was too bland, too amateur, too busy, and so on and so on. I've created 3 or 4 different ones, but I think I've finally settled on this one.

What do you think?

Happy Father's Day

I am a complete and total "Daddy's girl"

It's no secret. Always have been, always will be! My Dad is my hero. He is such and amazing person with such a capacity to love and give that I am proud to be his daughter.

Happy Father's Day Daddy! I love you!

comments

Ok, Sharon had told me a month or so ago she had tried to comment on the blog but couldn't.

I couldn't figure out why...well, I just did. :)

I have fixed the problem now and those of you who do NOT have a google/blogger ID should now be fully capable of commenting on any post.

:) Feel free to try it out :)

I am DONE...for now :)

I can officially say, as of today, I am off work.
I guess, in some way, my maternity leave started today. :) Since the students come back to school roughly TWO days after my due date, I won't be there for that.
Today was David's ONLY day off this week so we made the best of it! We got up this morning and went to the school to finish up the very last bit of moving. (I've been working all week to get from my old "portable" classroom to my (awesome) new classroom in the main building.) We headed straight from the school to the beach. We had a wonderful day just relaxing at the beach. The water was nice, calm, and warm. It was really nice, as always, to get to do a little swimming.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow being a super productive day around the house. My goal this week is to start washing Camden's clothes and get them all hung up in his closet. :) I think we have FINALLY picked out a color to paint the nursery, but that's David's job from here on out. He's the one that INSISTS the kid needs color on the walls. I guess he's right, the room is pretty stark white right now.
So, that's what's going on this week. I'll update again soon. :) Thanks for reading!

which crib???

Ok, we really can't decide which one we like better. This is so frustrating. Please vote and tell us which one you like better.

We aren't getting any of the matching furniture at this point, but someday we will...so that is part of the decision.

Here are both cribs (which are convertible cribs) and then the same crib pictured as a full size bed.

#1 as a crib
#1 as a bed
#2 as a crib
#2 as a bed

P.S. there is a poll on the top right corner...just in case you didn't see.

I'm so proud!

My 5th grade students "graduated" to middle school today.
I have been dreading this day for over a year now! I knew it was going to be so hard having to say goodbye to my first class ever. I know I'm blessed to have been able to teach them for more than one year, but it's still so hard to send them on their way! They have all grown and matured so much this year and I am so very proud of their progress!
I'm certainly going to miss my babies so very much!

I "passed" another test...

I passed my blood glucose test from last week!
I just got my results today. So yay! That, and all my other blood work, came back totally normal. No gestational diabetes and no other problems either :) Good stuff...just wanted to share.

Oh, and please check out my sister’s blog and see her precious new (tiny) niece! What a doll!!!

shuttle launch...or not...

We went to the beach last weekend for the shuttle launch...we failed to get the memo that the launch had been canceled at midnight the night...
